Thank you for visiting https://www.caabj.org (the “Site”), which is owned and operated by Charlotte Area Association of Black Journalists. What we Collect.

Personal Identifiable Information (“PII”).  We collect PII from you.  This is information that can be used to identify you individually.  This may include your name, business name, mailing address, phone number, email address, credit card number, resume and financial information.

Non-Personal Information.  We collect “non-personal” information (“NPI”) from you.  NPI cannot be easily used to personally identify you.  It includes, for example, the type of web browser you use, the URL of the previous website you visited, clickstream patterns, your ISP, your operating system and your IP address.

PPI and NPI are collectively referred to as “Information.”

How and when Information is Collected.

We collect PII from you when you provide it to us.   We also use analytic and reporting technologies to record NPI when you access our Site.

How we use the Information we Collect.

PPI is used for our internal business purposes.  This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining, evaluating and improving our sales, services and our Site.

NPI is used to track your use of the Site and other internal purposes, such as Site maintenance, evaluation and user-experience.

Disclosure to Third Parties.

We reserve the right to disclose any Information we collect to third parties.  You understand and agree that we are not required to provide you with advance notice and that we are not required to obtain your consent to make such disclosure. Illustrative instances of disclosure are provided below.

Disclosure to Successors.  We may disclose Information to any successor-in-interest of ours, such as, but not limited to, a company that acquires us.

Disclosure to Unaffiliated Third Parties.  We may disclose Information to prevent an emergency, to protect or enforce the rights of a third party, as required or permitted by law (including, but not limited to, compliance with a subpoena).

Disclosure to Third-Party Service Providers.  We may contract with various third parties and provide Information to them.  These parties may use the Information in the course of providing services to us.  While we take care in selecting these providers, we cannot guarantee that Information will not be disclosed to other third parties.  You agree we are not liable for any Information disclosure by these third party service providers.

Disclosure of NPI.  We may disclose NPI, usually in aggregate form, to potential strategic partners, advertisers, investors, customers and others.  You may not opt-out of the sharing of this information.

Changes Made to this Privacy Policy.

We reserve the right to modify, add or remove any terms and conditions in this Privacy Policy without notice or liability to you.  Any changes we make will be effective immediately following posting on the Site.

Children’s Privacy.

Our Site and services are not intended for users younger than 13 years of age.  Accordingly, we will not knowingly collect or use any PII from children that we know are under 13 years of age.  In addition, we will delete any Information in our database that we know originates from a child under the age of 13.

Cookies.

We use cookies in this Site.  The cookie settings on this website are set to ‘allow all cookies’. If you continue without changing these settings, you consent to the use of cookies – but if you desire, you can change your settings at any time.

Data Security.

We use a combination of firewall barriers, encryption techniques and authentication procedures, among others, to maintain the security of your data and to protect accounts and systems from unauthorized access.

When you register, “CAABJ” requires a password from you for your privacy and security. This password is stored in an encrypted fashion on our systems.

It is important to understand that these precautions apply only to “CAABJ” and its affiliate organization websites and systems. We exercise no control over how your information is stored, maintained or displayed by third parties or on third-party sites.
